LADYCALLER
She didn’t write or call or knock
No pregnant wait for doors unlock
No trumpets herald or cacophonous din Accompanied her as she strode in.
I didn’t see or hear her come
As stealthily she filled the room
No unusual smell, no breath on glass No sudden heat or icy blast.
Did she creep behind my back?
Or slide silently through window crack? to hold me in firm in her strong hands Soft as silk, like iron bands.
Like a sudden wave that hits the beach While I’m distracted watery fingers reach To fill the hole long dug by hand
Where lesser waves just wet the sand.
So now as I lay in bed alone
I smell the space from where you’ve gone I taste your taste upon my lips
And lick you from my fingertips.
My belly is warm with inner fire
Not just from lust or from desire
But knowing lady love has called today And knowing that she’s going to stay.
